Painting is a way for me to explore and reflect the world I inhabit, as well as a way to discover more about myself. It is a place to try new things, a place to grow, and a way to share. I am constantly amazed by the beauty surrounding us, not just in the grand vistas, but also in the details of small things closely observed. My paintings usually start with something I have seen, experienced. or felt; and evolve, through the process of painting, into a new, sometimes unexpected image. Each painting takes on a life of its own as it progresses from an idea or feeling into a finished work. I have been painting for over fifty years, so much of the process is now intuitive, yet every painting presents new challenges, frustrations, surprises, and rewards. My hope is that these paintings spark a response or connection with you the viewer, for a painting is only complete when someone interacts with it.
